One of the first things you’ll notice when arriving on Hamilton Island is how peaceful it feels, with no car horns, no traffic, and no taxis clogging the roads. That’s because there are no cars on Hamilton Island. Instead, you’ll see families, couples, and groups cruising around in electric golf buggies, the island’s main form of transport.
But why is a buggy so important for your holiday, and how can you make sure you have one ready to go? Let’s break it down.
A Car-Free Paradise
Hamilton Island was designed to be a car-free escape. By swapping cars for buggies, the island keeps its relaxed, tropical atmosphere while also being safer and more eco-friendly. Without cars, you can:
- Stroll without worrying about traffic
- Enjoy the sounds of nature (and the ocean) instead of engines.
- Let kids explore with more peace of mind.
Buggies are not just convenient, they’re part of what makes Hamilton Island so unique.
The Freedom of Having Your Own Buggy
Hamilton Island is bigger than it looks, with stunning spots spread across the island – from Catseye Beach to One Tree Hill, Passage Peak, and the Marina precinct. While there are shuttle buses, having your own buggy means you can:
- Get from your apartment to the beach or Marina in minutes
- Explore hidden lookouts at your own pace.
- Cruise around in true Hamilton Island style
